April 10, 2013, Wednesday - 7:00 p.m
 "Moving Forward Together"

        A presentation by Vic LaFrenz, Master Plan                Committee Chairman, at Pompey Town Hall.
      Pompey's new Comprehensive Master Plan for Land Conservation & Use is nearing completion. The Master Plan outlines what our town should look like in the years ahead.  Focusing on preserving Pompey's historic and rural character by developing a plan rather than just letting growth happen, it lays out general guidelines for building, zoning codes, and land use.
      Committee Members are; Chairman Vic Lafrenze, Jack Lawyer, John Shaheen, Velda Ward, David Peckham, Conrad Strozik, Don Neugabauer, Greg Herlihy, Frank Erwin, Stephen Abbe, and Dr. Ellie Williams.  The Draft Master Plan is available also at

May 8, 2013, Wednesday - 7:00 p.m 
 "The Pompey Boys"

        Sue Greenhagen presented a fascinating and detailed account of the involvement in the Civil War of the 4th Onondaga Regiment, 149th NYS Volunteers, Company E.
      The program offered some mind-boggling statistics regarding casualties on the field vs. sickness and POW casualties.  There were also personal histories and letters home recounting what trevails went on in those years as well as the political backdrop, recruitment procedures and regional contributions of troops.

August 14, 2013, Wednesday - 7:00 p.m 
Mike Johnston of Johnstons Honey Bee Farm 
(est. 1979) will educate us on topics such as  diseases affecting the bee population, Colony Collapse Disorder, developing a disease resistant strain of bees, how honey is processed and can have different flavors, and much more! (Link of interest)

September 15, 2013, Sunday, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Delphi Falls Baptist Church
Program commemorating Norman F. Potter,
1863 Medal of Honor Winner

Potter was a veteran of the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wauhatchie and Lookout Mountain.  He was one of the "Pompey Boys" of the 149th NY Volunteers Company E and was awarded the nation's highest honor after capturing the Confederate flag in hand-to-hand combat.  More about his life in the war and Pompey will be recounted.  A ceremony will follow at the cemetary including a playing of taps by Jeff Stockham of the Excelsior Cornet Band as well as soldiers in uniform.

Bring your own wares and staff a table (15% to the PHS as this is an important fundraiser for us).

June 28, 2013, Friday, 5:30 to Dark
      Enjoy music, country dancing (with lessons), a Silent Auction, games for the young, good food, and especially
our famous fresh Strawberry Shortcake!  Fun for both adults and children.  Event is $5.00/per person but child and family rates are available.
Dance caller and teacher, Bob Nicholson, accompanied by several experienced dancers will demonstrate and teach an assortment of square dances.   Music begins at 6:00 and dancing at 7:15.
Holy Smoke will have pulled pork, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and sides available.
Event held RAIN OR SHINE at our campus (corner of Rte. 20 and Pompey Center Rd).

and the One-Room Schoolhouse
featuring a new collection of Indian artifacts donated by Al LaFrance

There will be games and activities for all ages.
